VECTOR - A Vocational and Educational Curriculum Design from a Sector Skills Alliance on Tourism

Project coordinator: Giovanni Liberatore

The project started in 2015 and sees the collaboration of several European partners including the Foundation for Research and Innovation (coordinator), the Region of Tuscany, TÜV Thüringen Italia and other Spanish and Portuguese partners.

Tourism has always been recognised as a possible driver of the economic and social development of our country, which is rich in traditions and artistic, environmental and architectural resources that reflect over 2,000 years of traditions and culture. Yet, even today, there are numerous structural and managerial shortcomings that burden this sector, preventing its development, global and local at the same time.

Among the problems that most afflict tourist destinations, there is a lack of coordination and communication between the public and private players that together make up the local offer, as well as a lack of planning and integrated tourism promotion, both of which are indispensable factors for making an area attractive and competitive by guaranteeing a constant and dynamic flow of tourists.

The aim of the VECTOR project is to define the training curriculum of future "Destination Managers", who will have the task of dealing with the enhancement, promotion and integrated tourist development of territories on both a local and a global scale, in line with the phenomena that have been taking place in recent years and foreseeing future developments.
