Vision

DISEI aims to strengthen its role as a centre for the production and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of economics, business studies, quantitative sciences, socio-historical studies, and law and economics, by fostering interdisciplinarity and enhancing its capacity to generate cultural, social, and economic impact in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. The Department seeks to consolidate its visibility and expertise in key areas such as sustainability, wellbeing and ecological transition, digital transformation, innovation in businesses and public administrations, development, the evolution of financial markets and banking systems, and the integrated management of financial, climate, and global risks.

Internationalisation represents a key strategic priority and is pursued through an integrated approach encompassing both teaching and research. In terms of education, DISEI aims to enhance its international attractiveness by strengthening its English-taught programmes, developing joint programmes and double degrees, and promoting the mobility of students and academic staff. Within this framework, particular attention is also devoted to students embedded in the local and regional context, ensuring them effective access to the various internationalisation opportunities offered by the Department.

In line with the University Strategic Plan, DISEI directs its development along three main dimensions. In the field of research, the Department seeks to intensify participation in international networks and projects, thereby strengthening the quality, visibility, and impact of its scientific production. In the area of teaching, it aims to further develop an increasingly international, interdisciplinary, and skills-oriented educational offer aligned with the demands of professional environments. With regard to the enhancement of knowledge for the benefit of the productive system, public institutions, and civil society, DISEI intends to consolidate its role as a qualified partner for institutions, businesses, and third-sector organisations by strengthening knowledge transfer, supporting decision-making processes, and promoting sustainable development models.

At the same time, the educational offer is designed to train highly qualified human capital capable of operating effectively in complex and international environments. Strengthening connections with the labour market represents a cross-cutting strategic priority. The Department promotes structured relationships with businesses, institutions, and third-sector organisations, expanding opportunities for internships, traineeships, and project work, while encouraging forms of co-design in educational activities. The involvement of advisory boards and alumni contributes to ensuring alignment between educational pathways and professional needs, thereby improving graduates’ employability and enhancing DISEI’s impact within its reference context.
