Curricula

The doctoral programme is organized in two curricula, focusing on the following topics:

  • Development economics: (i) macroeconomics of development,including analyses of the impact of financial crises and of measures which promote global economic integration; (ii) international integration and regulation in the field of trade, finance, migration, technology, international cooperation and foreign aid; (iii) microeconomics of development, including analyses of poverty and inequality, labour markets and informality, population and household economics, agriculture and rural development; (iv) natural resource managementand sustainable development, climate change, shocks and resilience; (v) evaluation of the impact of public policies and project management;
  • Economics of local development: business economics and management, organization theory, urban and regional economics, industrial and spatial economics and policy, entrepreneurship, economics of innovation, inter-organizational network analysis, industrial district and cluster theory in developed and less developed countries, culture, creativity and innovation in local systems, firm internationalisation, multinational networks and global value chains, sustainable local development patterns.
