Within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan — Mission 4 “Education and Research” — Component 1 “Enhancement of education services: from nurseries to universities” — Investment 3.4 “University teaching and advanced skills” — Sub-measure T4 “Transnational Education Initiatives”, the Italian Ministry of University and Research issued, by Directorial Decree no. 167 of 03/10/2023, a call for the allocation of funding to transnational educational initiatives — TNE.
The general objective is to promote cooperation with foreign higher education institutions in order to encourage the internationalisation of Italian universities and promote the Italian higher education model as an international best practice.
More specifically, the initiative aims to promote:
scientific activities with universities located in the geographical areas identified by the call, on various topics consistent with the objectives and purposes of the general NRRP strategy;
the international dimension, cooperation between Italian universities and higher education institutions in non-EU countries, and the transfer of interdisciplinary and intercultural knowledge through transnational educational programmes aimed at encouraging the creation and consolidation of permanent higher education centres abroad.
To achieve these objectives, the following initiatives may be implemented:
mobility of teaching staff (TNE Teaching Staff) for a teaching period ranging from 5 days to 3 months, from a foreign partner to one of the Italian partners and/or vice versa;
student mobility (TNE Study), including doctoral students, for a study or research period ranging from 2 to 6 months, from a foreign partner to one of the Italian partners and/or vice versa;
collaborations aimed at implementing Double/Joint Degree programmes;
TNE Advanced Skills: development of advanced postgraduate training programmes jointly designed and delivered by the partners and aimed at teaching staff, non-teaching staff and researchers, not necessarily employed by one of the Parties.
